What moves the price
Six things decide whether a job sits at the bottom or the top of the range.
The wall construction. A new cable in a Gründerzeit building means chasing into brick, while a new build often has conduit already in place. That is why a new socket including cabling carries a range, 140 to 220 €, and not a single price.
The cable route. From the consumer unit to the appliance, every metre counts. For a wallbox we reckon up to 10 m of cable run at 990 to 1.490 €, and beyond that we say after the wallbox check, 69 €.
The space in the consumer unit. If there is a free module space in the fuse box, the RCD costs 189 € as a fixed price. If it is full or the cabling is old, it becomes a partial renewal, 490 to 890 €.
How much is done in one visit. The call-out falls once per visit, 69 €. Each further socket in the same room costs 59 €, each further light 49 €. Collect small jobs into one appointment.
The time band. A planned weekday appointment costs least. The emergency base price on a weekday daytime is 149 €, at night 279 €. What can wait until tomorrow should wait until tomorrow.
The material. Small materials up to 10 € are inside the price. Devices and spare parts such as RCDs, breakers or light fittings we name beforehand and show separately on the invoice.
What else is charged in Vienna
Arbeiterkammer Wien (Vienna Chamber of Labour) surveyed fifteen Vienna electrical businesses. Their figures on the left, ours on the right.
Source: Handwerkerkosten inklusive Notdienste in Wien (tradespeople's costs including emergency call-outs), Arbeiterkammer Wien (Vienna Chamber of Labour), December 2025. Between 16 and 23 October 2025 the AK Wien surveyed fifteen Vienna electrical businesses, weekday during business hours, all values including VAT. The year before, the average was 111,73 €, and the year before that 101,81 €. From 2024 to 2025 that is 7.6 % more for an hour of a qualified electrician's time.
| Item | Vienna 2025 (Arbeiterkammer Wien (Vienna Chamber of Labour)) | At Elektroklar |
|---|---|---|
| One qualified hour on a weekday | 120,27 €92,57 € to 158 € | 118 € per hour |
| With us the hourly rate only applies to work that is not on the price board. Everything on the list costs the fixed price, even if we take longer. | ||
| Electrician with a mate, per hour | 180,16 €149,88 € to 222 € | in the quote |
| Where two people are needed, that is in the written quote before work starts, not a surcharge on the invoice. | ||
| Call-out within the same district | 69,26 €0 € to 118,80 € | 69 € |
| Our call-out applies in all 23 districts, once per visit, with travel time and small materials up to 10 € included. In the survey the range runs from free to over a hundred euros. | ||
| Call-out to the neighbouring district | 87,10 €50,56 € to 120 € | 69 € |
| With us the same price, whether we drive two streets or across half of Vienna. Many businesses charge the travel time on top as working time. | ||
| A price per job instead of per hour | not surveyed | 69 € |
| The AK surveys hourly rates because the businesses it asked bill by the hour. With us the price is per job: replace a socket 69 €, mount a lamp 69 €, install an RCD 189 €. | ||
| Emergency call in the evening, at the weekend, at night | not surveyed | 149 to 279 € |
| The AK collected no night or weekend rates for electrical businesses. Our base price per time band is in the table above and covers the call-out, fault finding and the first 30 minutes. | ||
Common questions about the cost
Hourly rate, call-out, weekends, E-Befund, old buildings. Answered with numbers instead of ranges.
What does an electrician in Vienna cost per hour?
According to the AK Wien survey of October 2025, on average 120,27 € per qualified hour including VAT, in a range from 92,57 € to 158 €. With us you do not need the hour at all for standard work: the price board names the price per job. For anything outside the list, 118 € per hour applies, per started 15 minutes after the first half hour.
What does the call-out cost?
With us 69 € anywhere in Vienna, once per visit, journey there and back and travel time included. For the same district the AK found an average of 69,26 €, and for the neighbouring district 87,10 €, with values up to 120 €. Ask beforehand whether travel time is charged on top as working time, that is the usual second item.
Why do comparison sites only give ranges?
Because they are not the ones charging the price. A portal collects values from many businesses and regions and writes a range out of them, which decides nothing about your flat. We write down the price we charge for the work described, and confirm it in writing before we start.
What does an emergency call cost at the weekend?
On Saturday a base price of 199 €, on Sunday and public holidays 239 €, at night 279 €. That covers the call-out anywhere in Vienna, the fault finding and the first 30 minutes of work. After that, per started half hour at the price in the table. You hear the amount on the phone before we set off.
What does an E-Befund cost in Vienna?
By flat size: up to 50 m² 249 €, from 50 to 100 m² 329 €, above that 429 €. A detached house is 590 to 890 € depending on the area and the number of circuits. Visual inspection, measurements and the report as a PDF are included.
Is an electrician more expensive in an old building?
Not for the same work. Replacing a socket costs the same in a Gründerzeit flat as in a new build, 69 €. The old building shows up where chasing is needed or where the consumer unit is old. Those items therefore carry a range in the list, and we name the fixed price after the site visit.
Tell us what it is about.
We name the price up front, or come and look and name it in writing. During business hours we usually get back to you within an hour, otherwise by 9 a.m. on the next working day.
