Dense Gründerzeit around Meidlinger Hauptstraße and Längenfeldgasse, early council housing such as the Fuchsenfeldhof, terraced houses and villas in Hetzendorf and Altmannsdorf, the large Am Schöpfwerk estate.
Meidling falls into two halves. In the north, between Meidlinger Hauptstraße, Längenfeldgasse and the station, stands dense Gründerzeit in grid blocks, often without a lift, with narrow stairwells and flats that have been rebuilt several times over the decades. Alongside them are the early buildings of Red Vienna such as the Fuchsenfeldhof of 1925. In the south, in Altmannsdorf, Hetzendorf and at the Schöpfwerk, it opens up: terraced houses, villas and the Am Schöpfwerk estate of the seventies with around 1,700 flats on 62 staircases.
In the old build we usually find too few sockets, consumer units without an RCD, and cabling that was never meant for a kitchen of today. On the estates in the south the work is more likely a cooker connection, light fittings and the inspection before handover. We work in occupied flats, cover up, and say beforehand how long the power will be off. What is in the list costs the list price, whatever the floor and whatever the year of construction.

Questions from Meidling
Our flat is on the fourth floor with no lift. Does that change the price?
No. The price from the list applies whatever the floor. Only if a consumer unit or an appliance will not fit through the stairwell and we need a second person do we say so beforehand and put it in the quote.
We are refitting the kitchen. Is the old cabling enough for a cooker and a dishwasher?
Often not. In a Meidling old build the kitchen and half the flat frequently hang on one circuit. We measure, tell you before you buy the kitchen what is possible, and name the fixed price for the extra cable.
How long is the power off when you renew the consumer unit?
In an old-build flat usually three to five hours. On request we put the fridge and the router on a protected extension beforehand, so the whole day does not go without power.
